Focused, Depth-Oriented Therapy for
Real Change
Why Weekly or Biweekly Therapy is Sometimes Not Enough
Traditional weekly or biweekly therapy can be incredibly helpful, but for some people, it simply doesn’t create the momentum needed for real change. When symptoms feel urgent, when you’ve already “talked it through,” or when life circumstances don’t allow months of gradual progress, the pacing of standard sessions can feel frustrating or insufficient. Trauma, grief, anxiety, and major life transitions don’t always unfold neatly in 50 to 60 minute increments. Sometimes, healing asks for focused time, deeper presence, and space to move through the work without constantly stopping and restarting.
what are
Therapy Intensives
Therapy Intensives are a highly focused, extended-format therapeutic experience designed to help you go deeper—faster—than traditional therapy allows. Instead of spreading progress out over months, an intensive offers several hours (or multiple sessions close together) of intentional, structured work. This format allows us to fully enter the therapeutic process, work through core issues, and create meaningful shifts in a short period of time. Therapy Intensives are immersive, personalized, and designed for people who are ready to prioritize their healing with intention and clarity.

Intensives may include multiple hours in a single day or across a few days, depending on your needs and goals.
who are
Therapy Intensives for?
Therapy Intensives for?
Therapy Intensives are ideal for individuals who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or at a crossroads—especially those who are high-functioning on the outside but struggling internally. They are particularly well-suited for people navigating trauma, anxiety, grief, medical or cancer-related experiences, burnout, identity shifts, or major life transitions such as divorce or loss. Intensives are also a powerful option for people who value depth, efficiency, and intentional growth, and who want therapy to meet them at the pace their life actually requires.
If you’ve ever thought “I don’t want to start from scratch every week” or “I need more than an hour to really get into this,” an intensive may be the right fit.
After facing cancer, chronic health issues, grief and loss, or identity collapse, my clients don’t need coping tools; they need to feel safe in their own skin again. This work is where the body exhales, grief finds room to move, and survival turns into relief. This is not faster therapy, it’s true repair
my
Approach
Approach
At Blackbird Therapy, Therapy Intensives are not rushed, formulaic, or “one-size-fits-all.” My approach blends evidence-based modalities such as EMDR and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) with thoughtful pacing, nervous system regulation, and deep respect for your lived experience. Each intensive is guided by personalized treatment planning that honors where you are, what you need, and what your system is ready for. This work is collaborative, grounded, and intentionally designed to help you reconnect with your inner authority, clarity, and capacity for change. Healing here is not forced; it is strategically supported.
Optional integrative supports such as Reiki-based relaxation and Human Design-informed self-reflection are available for clients who want them.

Right for You?
Right for You?
If you’ve ever thought, “I know I need more than what I’m getting right now,” a Therapy Intensive may be exactly what you’ve been looking for. Intensives are especially helpful if you want meaningful change, feel ready to engage deeply in the work, and prefer a more intentional, focused approach to therapy. Because this is a premium, customized service, all Therapy Intensives begin with a consultation. This ensures the format is clinically appropriate, aligned with your goals, and designed to support you in the most effective way possible.
Schedule a Consultation
If you’re interested in therapy intensives in Overland Park, Kansas or the Kansas City metro area, I invite you to schedule a consultation to discuss your goals and determine whether an intensive is the right fit.
You don’t have to stay stuck.
You don’t have to do this alone.
And you don’t have to stretch your healing out longer than it needs to be.
Book a Therapy Intensive Consultation
This is not a quick screening call; it’s an intentional conversation designed to determine whether a Therapy Intensive is the right fit for you at this time.
During your consultation, we will discuss what you’re navigating, what hasn’t worked so far, and what you’re hoping to change. Together, we’ll explore whether the Therapy Intensive format aligns with your goals, readiness, and nervous system and if so, what a personalized intensive might look like for you.
Because Therapy Intensives are highly customized and cash-pay only, consultations ensure the work is clinically appropriate, ethically sound, and structured to support meaningful change—not rushed outcomes.
When you’re ready to move beyond insight and into measurable change, this is where the work begins.
Important to Know
Therapy Intensives at Blackbird Therapy are offered on a self-pay basis only and are NOT billed to insurance. This allows for full clinical flexibility, personalized treatment planning, and extended time that insurance models do not support.
